Our two service projects include the Citizenship Initiative and the Immigrant Legal Assistance Center.

Citizenship Initiative

The USC Community Citizenship Initiative encourages and assists people to become U.S. citizens by providing free legal assistance in completing the naturalization application and, if needed, by providing free English and Civics classes to USC staff. Free legal assistance is available to members of the public and USC staff, contract staff, students, faculty. Since 2016, we have helped more than 200 lawful permanent residents become U.S. citizens. The Citizenship Initiative is supported and funded by the Office of the Provost, the State of California Department of Social Services, and the USC Gould School of Law.

Immigrant Legal Assistance Center (ILAC)

The USC Gould Immigrant Legal Assistance Center (ILAC) provides free, confidential consultations, legal assistance, and referrals to members of the USC Trojan Family, students, staff members, contract employees, faculty and family members, who may be at risk of deportation, who may be eligible to apply for immigration status, or who have questions about their legal status and legal rights under the immigration laws. The Legal Assistance Center is supported by the Office of the Provost and USC Gould School of Law.
